Obituary for Bernice Barnes (Allen)

Bernice Barnes was born in Dennison, Texas on April 27, 1930 to Cecil and Ethel Allen. She lost her fight with lung cancer on November 25, 2019 surrounded by her family. Bernice is survived by a sister, Geneva Seitz, four children Glennita (Dave) Dixon, Walter (Lorraine) Barnes, Teresa (Kirk) DeHart and Michael (Renee) Barnes along with 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Early in life Bernice enjoyed camping, four wheeling and other outdoor activities. After retiring from the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Department, where she was the only female draftsperson, she renewed her love for square dancing. She danced 2-3 times a week and enjoyed visiting other dance clubs and steeling their banners. She also enjoyed playing cards, attending plays and spending time with family and friends.

Bernice was warm, kind and loving to everyone. We love and miss our Mom, sister and friend. May she Rest in Peace. A service and celebration of Bernice’s life will be held on January 4, 2020 at noon at the Elks Lodge at 1455 Newland St, Lakewood, CO 80214.

Bernice was always such a warm and sweet person to me and always gave a smile and a hug everytime we saw each other. She inspired me to live life fully and never slow down! I'm thankful that she's resting in the arms of Jesus and just maybe doing a doe-si-doe up in heaven with her beloved Sam! ❤️
