Obituary

Dominic Michael “Wildcat” Smith, beloved father, son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend, passed away on August 25, 2019 in Lakewood, Colorado at the age of 39.

Dominic is survived by his 19-year-old daughter that he loved with all his soul, Jennifer Eve Smith, his mother, Deb Winter who loved him with all her soul, his cousin (like a sister), Denise Blea, his brothers Jeremy and Joshua Smith, his sister Sondra Costanos, his uncle (like a brother) Shane Blea, his best friend (like a brother) Jeremy McChesney and his boys Jared & Dylan, his grandpa Domitilio Blea, his grandma Della Blea and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and our doggies Mindy, Yankee and Bitty. He is preceded in death by his father, John Smith, his grandma Jeanie, grandpa Don, grandma Burke and aunt Julie, along with several other family members and good friends.

He was born to John Patrick Smith and Debra Louise Blea on December 19, 1979 in Denver, Colorado. Dominic went to school in Thornton, Colorado and after high school he attended college to get his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. He loved taking electronics apart and working on computers and he was always helping family and friends with their computers. He worked at American Furniture Warehouse for quite a few years and then once he graduated from college he worked in the IT computer industry.

Dominic loved to travel and he really loved the outdoors spending time camping, fishing, boating, jet skiing, paintballing and sharing time and meals with family and friends. He took Jen everywhere with him because he wanted to make sure she had as many great experiences as he could provide. He taught her how to be strong, brave, independent, loving and mostly kind and caring. No matter what was going on she always knew she was loved by her daddy.

He loved being Jen’s father and being Deb’s son. He also loved being the big brother, the stepdad, the oldest grandson, the uncle, the older “cool” cousin and the best friend. Dominic had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone at any time! He had a great sense of humor and quick wit, the best smile and a laugh that you could listen to forever! He liked to act tough but everyone that knew him was not fooled because they all knew he really had an incredibly kind and special soul. He was also proud to say that he was a Free Spirit like his momma!

We will all cry because we are so sad that he is gone but we can also rejoice knowing that he is now watching over all of us. He is our guardian angel and we can all look to the heavens and know that he is smiling and laughing with us.

No bird soars too high if he soars with his own wings – Blake
