Joan Brock

Joan Brock died November 17, 2018, in Denver, CO.

Joan was born in Kansas City, graduated from Adams State University, and earned her Master’s Degree from the University of Colorado, Denver. She is survived by her sister, Jean Elliott, of Wichita, KS, nieces and nephew Tara Swisher, Lisa Christensen, and Brock Elliott, and her lifelong friend Melissa Goforth.
It is impossible to express the full range of Joan’s adventures, passions and curiosity about life. She was a teacher, and taught in Kenya, Guatemala, Denver and the Czech Republic. She was a railroad engineer, pioneering that role for women, and a pilot. She loved photography, travel, wildlife, other cultures, food, trains, movies and books. Her particular interest was African wildlife and culture, and she photographed gorillas in the wild in Africa.
A Celebration of Life dinner will be held December 9, 2018, in Denver. Please contact Melissa at 303-229-0249 (text or voice mail) if planning to attend.
